To temporarily bypass the lid switch remove the two screws from the console end caps, one on each side. Pull the console forward and fold back out of the way.

Incidentally, after removing the OEM LID switch, it looks like the reason for failure is the glue holding the housing together is coming apart. I have not tried, but I bet if I take the housing apart, clean and glue it back together the switch will continue to function for another decade or so.
